How can I help?

Discovery Session - FREE

To help you decide if 1-2-1 wellness coaching is what you need, I first offer a free 40-minute discovery session during which we will:

  • Review your current activity/nutrition habits
  • Look at what you have tried in the past and discuss your goals and preferences
  • Complete a short training element so you get a feel for how 1-2-1 sessions will work and whether they are right for you

The session provides you with the opportunity to discuss your specific situation and ask any questions and together we can work out the best next steps for you to take.

Before we meet for the consultation session I will provide a pre-activity questionnaire so that I can identify any issues which may require more specialist help prior to starting a block of training.

Wellness Coaching

What does a typical session involve?

Face to face sessions are designed for each individual but will always include an element of resistance training - in other words lifting weights! It might not be something you have done much of previously but resistance training is essential for everyone as among many other benefits it helps to build strength, increase metabolism to support weight control and improve bone health which is particularly important as we age.

There will also be some cardio workouts to build a strong and healthy heart as well as exercises to help improve mobility, flexibility and balance giving an all over feeling of fitness.

As a Precision Nutrition Level 1 certified coach sessions incorporate discussions around nutrition providing support both in session and between sessions to help you build lasting, healthy nutrition habits without giving up the things you enjoy. Nutrition coaching focuses on meeting you where you're at and gradually layering healthy habits. No restrictive diets, no counting calories involved!

By providing a holistic approach to coaching we will work together identify your bright spots and things that you are already enjoying and succeeding at as well as those areas that need a little more attention and gradually build better habits to support your long term health and fitness goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a gym member to benefit from personal training?

No, all you need is yourself and a space big enough to stretch out in. I bring all the kit required to your sessions. If you don’t have any weights for additional workouts, I provide body weight exercises, which can be just as effective.

I’m not sure about weight/resistance training, won’t it make me look bulky?

To get ‘bulky’ requires a lot of effort and dedication to training and diet. Weight (or resistance) training is essential for everyone to maintain lean muscle as we age and as well as to help maintain healthy bones. Improving muscle quality and increasing muscle quantity will also increase your metabolism, meaning you burn more calories at rest which aids weight loss if that is your goal.

I have a few medical issues; will they stop me?

Most people will benefit from starting an exercise program and sessions can be adapted to suit each individual so we can usually work around any issues to provide a safe and effective program. Everyone completes a pre-exercise health questionnaire so if required I can refer you to a medical specialist before you start.
